Business interruption insurance and your fantasy football update

We think business interruption insurance (BI) is one of the most important covers a business can take out. After all, you just never know when disaster may strike. As you will know, BI protects a business’s trading position while it’s out of action due to a serious incident, like a fire or flood. It can happen to all types of businesses and can have very serious consequences.

Worryingly, a recent survey from Aviva to their SME customers revealed six in ten of UK SMEs either don’t have any BI insurance or aren’t sure whether it’s included in their current business insurance policy. However, 20% of the same customers said they had experienced a disruption to their business. For most businesses, not having this cover in place, or the right amount of cover, is risky.

At Kerry London Underwriting, we can help you understand the risks your clients face and arrange cover accordingly. That can be standalone cover or part of a wider commercial combined offering. We’ve built our reputation on our ability to source innovative cover and we can place business directly into the Lloyd’s market, as well as other speciality London markets.

Here are some of the reasons why we think we’re a great business to place your client’s cover with:

  • New improved online underwriting system
  • Exclusive in-house binding authority that doesn’t require proposal forms
  • Immediate issue of white labelled policies
  • Personal phone support to ensure clients only pay for what they need
  • In-house claims service to liaise with insurers and underwriters on your behalf
  • Negotiable commission rates

There is no need to choose between experience and personal service. With Kerry London Underwriting, you can have both.

Fantasy football update

The first month of our broker competition is over and it’s time to award the prize for August. But, before we do that, let’s have a look at the players who have started well (a good idea for those of you who have had a dubious start and you’re thinking about playing that wildcard and changing your team).

Leading the way in points so far is the goal machine that is Sergio Aguero. The Argentinian has bagged 40 points so far, scoring six goals along the way. Yes, he’s expensive at £12.1 million, but he’s pretty much guaranteed to bolster your points haul each week. In midfield, his Man City teammate Raheem Sterling is the second highest points scorer with 37 points so far, helped in no small way by his opening day hat trick. Again, he’s pricey, but you get what you paid for.

Before we head to defenders, we must mention Tammy Abraham of Chelsea. After finally saying ‘adios’ to Eden Hazard, some Chelsea fans were deeply concerned about their team’s ability to score goals this season. But Abraham has started like a rocket, bagging four goals in four games. At just £7.2 million, he may well be worth a punt.

If you’re looking for new defenders, then Patrick Van Aanholt of Crystal Palace and Lucas Digne of Everton are currently leading the way. Both offer goals and assist opportunities, if not a bounty of clean sheets.

And finally, between the sticks, Rui Patricio of Wolves leads the way with 20 points. An opening day clean sheet against Leicester and a penalty save against Man Utd have helped him command 20 points already.

Monthly prizes

Top of the league for August is Drew Wotherspoon, but he’s one of our own, so the prize money will be going to Kerry London Underwriting’s chosen charity, Mind. On the Ball came second, just 11 points short of glory. But fear not, the monthly prize gets reset now, so it’s all to play for in September.

If you’re making changes to your fantasy league team, choose wisely. We look forward to seeing the results.
